Reality (Talent) shows like Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Supersinger, Fame Gurukul not only raised crores in revenue for the Broadcasters and did wonders for their ratings; they also presented the Indian audience with new set of screen idols.

Reality shows offer more than just 15 minutes of fame. They represent the hopes, dreams and aspiration of the masses... They give them heroes that they can worship and live vicariously through their achievements. The bond between the junta and their janardans is indeed a strong one.
